Stress Reliever #3: Know that God is Already Preparing Your Future

5 Ways to Make Time Your Friend (Jesus's Way)
February 28, 2019

What if you knew for a FACT that God already has many things in motion, planned for your benefit, long before you even think to ask Him for them? How would that make you feel?

The word of God is full of such scriptural, spiritual FACTS.

Jesus taught . . .

“. . . your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Matthew 6:8, NIV).

Wow. That’s a cool thought, right? Straight from the lips of Jesus. Of course, we should still ask for things at God’s hand, as Jesus also taught us to do. In prayer, we seek to align our will with God’s perfect understanding of His plan that’s already in motion for us, not to change God’s will.

And how about this comforting verse from Jeremiah:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).

And here’s another gold nugget from the book Jesus Calling, by Sarah Young, written as if the Lord is speaking to you:

“This is my world: I made it and I control it. . . When you bring me prayer requests, thank me for the answers that I have set into motion long before you can discern results. When your requests come to mind again, continue to thank Me for the answers that are on the way.”

And here’s a final profound insight from old King Solomon! Amazing!

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps” (Proverbs 16:9, NIV).

In plain English, this scripture reminds us that we may do our best to plan our days and our lives, but ultimately it is God that establishes what really happens, or the steps we will have to walk in.

The Bottom Line

How does knowing that God has already set your course in motion make time your friend?

For me, I feel more cared-for, watched-over, and loved. I am reminded that He is the master of time and sees the beginning from the end. I don’t stress over how things appear or don’t appear to be “working out.”

And here’s the biggest blessing. I leave God’s work to God (orchestrating events and outcomes) so that I can focus on what He has told me to focus on: Loving Him. Loving my neighbor. Seeking His face. Trusting Him.

Isn’t that a wonderful de-stresser? Let God take care of God’s things so you can take care of your responsibilities. Mastery of time belongs to God and He has everything already lined up for you.
